X-Ray

Oran Park Radiology provides a comprehensive range of general and specialised X-Ray services using the latest digital imaging technology. X-Ray imaging is a fast and effective way to examine bones and other internal structures and is commonly used to assist in diagnosing a wide range of medical conditions.

X-Rays use a small amount of radiation to create detailed images, with denser structures such as bones appearing clearly on the image. Depending on the examination, X-Rays may be performed while you are standing, lying down or seated. The procedure is quick and painless, although some positioning may cause brief, mild discomfort.

A referral from your healthcare provider is required for all X-Ray examinations.

FAQs

Most X-Ray examinations do not require an appointment. You are welcome to attend during clinic hours with a valid referral. Please note that wait times may vary during busy periods.

In most cases, no special preparation is required. However:

  • You may be asked to remove metallic items such as jewellery, watches or keys, as these can interfere with the images
  • Wearing loose-fitting clothing without metal fastenings is recommended
  • For many examinations, you may be asked to change into a gown

Our team will provide any specific instructions if your examination requires additional preparation.

Ensure you bring:

  • Your referral form from your doctor.
  • Medicare or DVA card, if applicable..
  • WorkCover or insurance details if the X-Ray relates to a work-related injury.

A qualified radiographer will explain the examination and guide you through each step. Depending on the type of X-ray, you may be asked to stand, lie down or change position to obtain the required images. The examination itself is very quick.

Once completed, the images are reviewed by a radiologist, and a report is sent to your referring doctor.

Most Medicare-eligible X-Ray examinations are bulk billed. If there are any out-of-pocket costs, our staff will advise you prior to your examination.

Reports are generally available within 24–48 hours. If your referral is marked as urgent, please let our team know so your examination and report can be prioritised.
