FAQs

Yes, all pain management and interventional procedures are performed by appointment. A referral from your doctor is required, and recent diagnostic imaging (such as CT or MRI) may be needed to confirm the treatment area.

Specific preparation instructions will be provided at the time of booking. In general, you may be asked to:

  • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing
  • Provide details of any recent imaging or reports
  • Arrange for someone to drive you home if advised

Please inform our team if you are taking blood-thinning medications or have any medical conditions that may affect the procedure.

A member of our clinical team will explain the procedure and answer any questions before you begin. During the procedure:

  • CT or ultrasound imaging is used to accurately guide needle placement
  • The injection or treatment is performed quickly and with minimal discomfort
  • Most procedures are completed within a short timeframe

You may feel a brief sting from the local anaesthetic or mild pressure during the injection. In some cases, there may be a short-lived increase in pain when treating nerve-related conditions, which usually settles quickly.

After the procedure, the radiologist will prepare a report for your referring doctor.

Local anaesthetic may provide immediate relief lasting several hours

Steroid medication may take a few days up to two weeks to reach full effect, gradually reducing pain and inflammation

Some pain management and interventional procedures may incur an out of pocket cost. If any out-of-pocket costs apply, our team will discuss this with you prior to your appointment.

Reports are typically available within 24–48 hours. If your referral is marked as urgent, please let our team know so your case can be prioritised.
