FAQs

Most dental imaging examinations do not require an appointment. However, some advanced scans may require booking depending on your referral. Our reception team can confirm this when you contact us.

Preparation is minimal:

  • Please remove metal objects such as jewellery or facial piercings prior to the scan
  • Wear comfortable clothing
  • Arriving a little early allows time for any paperwork

Any specific instructions will be provided at the time of booking if required.

Please bring:

  • Your referral form
  • Your Medicare or DVA card, if applicable
  • WorkCover or insurance details if the scan relates to a work-related injury

A member of our team will explain the procedure and guide you through the examination. Most dental imaging is performed while you are standing upright.

For an OPG or lateral cephalogram, you will be asked to lightly bite on a sterile mouthpiece to help keep your head still while the imaging unit moves around you. The scan itself is quick and painless, usually taking only a few seconds.

Once completed, the images are reviewed by a radiologist and a report is sent to your referring dentist or healthcare provider.

Most Medicare-eligible dental imaging services are bulk billed. If any out-of-pocket costs apply, our staff will advise you prior to your examination.

Reports are generally available within 24–48 hours. If your referral indicates urgency, please let our team know so your scan and report can be prioritised.
